As per the statement given by Energy Minister Pradyuman Singh Tomar, the bill has been implemented to clear the deferred dues of low-income household consumers due to the Pandemic.
“All such domestic consumers with a combined load of up to one kilowatt, whose outstanding principal amount and surcharge amount were deferred as of August 31, 2020, will have to submit an application in the format prescribed by the electricity distribution company to take advantage of the scheme,” he further said giving clarity on the bill.
As per the scheme, the full amount of the waived surcharge and 50 per cent of the waived principal amount will be borne by the distribution company and the remaining 50 per cent of the original amount will be borne by the state government.
