MI defeated GG by 55 runs in the WPL encounter at the Brabournes Stadium on Tuesday successfully locking their spot in the playoffs. MI captain Harmanpreet has been awarded for hitting two sixes in the match. She scored her fifty in the tournament, amassing 51 runs off just 30 balls which had 7 fours and 2 sixes.
Nat Sciver-Brunt, Ms. Kaur, and Yastika Bhatia are among the top ten highest run scorers in the WPL so far.
The proceedings kicked off with Gujarat winning the toss and inviting Mumbai to bat first, following which they posted a challenging 162/8 on the board. Skipper Harmanpreet Kaur scored 51 off 30 balls, while Yastika Bhatia Nat Sciver-Brunt chipped in crucial contributions. Bhatia scored 44 (37), and Sciver scored 36 (31).
In response, Gujarat got off to a dreadful start and were reduced to 34/3 at the end of powerplay. The Sneh Rana-led unit were then reduced to 48/5 at the halfway stage, making the contest a one-sided affair. Among the Mumbai bowlers, Hayley Matthews and Sciver scalped three wickets each, while Amelia Kerr picked two and Issy Wong got one. In the end, they limped through to manage on 107/9 as MI registered a 55-run victory.
