Naxal killed, DRG jawan Injured in Encounter

Bijapur: A Naxal carrying a reward of Rs 3 Lakhs was slain in an encounter between the security forces and the Maoists in the Bijapur Neymed Police station area early morning today, officials said.
According to the information received, an ambush took place between 7-8:30 am near the forests of Kaika and Mosla under the Neymed Police station area when a joint team of DRG and 222- Battalion of CRPF was out on an Anti-Naxal Operations, Bastar IG Sundarajj said.
The deceased Naxal is identified as Sendra LOS Deputy Commander Ritesh Poonem. Sources also report DRG Jawan Ramlu Hemla was injured during the gunfight. After the fire ceased, the body of Naxal Ritesh with a 12 bore rifle and Maoist related material were recovered on search.
The injured DRG is stable and being monitored by the experts, said IG.
