NSA Slapped Accused Nabbed by MP Police
- Main accused in Khargone violence nabbed.
- Sameer Ullah Khan was nabbed from Khaltaka area of the Khargone district.
- The accused carried a bounty of Rs 10,000.
Khargone: MPs Khargone police nabbed the main accused in the communal violence that took place on the occasion of Ram Navmi on Sunday. The arrest came three months after the incident took place.
Sameerullah Khan (30), carrying a reward of Rs 10,000 on his head, was picked up from the Khaltaka area of the Khargone district, said Superintendent of Police (SP) Dharmveer Singh.
The accused as per preliminary investigation was in criminal cases including those of communal nature since 2016, said Singh. The district administration had invoked the stringent National Security Act (NSA) against Khan earlier this week, he further said.
On Sunday, 10 April, on the occasion of Ram Navami, a man was killed and 50 others were injured in the clash in Khargone, which erupted after a few people allegedly threw stones at a Ram Navami procession.
Over 55 “illegal structures” were demolished by the district administration while taking action against the alleged stone-pelters and the accused.
