Durg: The Durg DSP Dr. Abhishek Pallav in a joint operation with cyber units and anti-crime branch in Bhilai busted an online betting racket. Acting on a tip off, the police nabbed 24 accused in an operation nthat was carried out on September 24 and 25, an official said
As per reports, the accused nabbed were ready to flee to Chennai when the arrests were sought. During the raid, officers have reportedly seized Rs 20,320 in cash, one laptop and 5 mobile phones. Investigation revealed that the bookies used to bet on the Mahadev Betting App.
The raid comes two days after CM Baghel directed state Director General of Police (DGP) Ashok Juneja to take stern measures to check gambling and betting. He also instructed the DGP to frame stringent rules to prevent betting and gambling being operated through online platforms.
