Islamabad: Pakistan’s interior minister Rana Sanaullah confirmed that former Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan will be arrested as soon as his three-day protective bail lapses. Sources reveal that the interior ministry had written to Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s office seeking permission to arrest Khan in the terror case against him.

Pakistan’s Media Regulatory Authority (PEMRA) has banned the broadcasting of live speeches of Imran Khan, hours after he vowed to file cases against Islamabad’s inspector-general, deputy inspector general, and female magistrate for torturing Shahbaz Gill. PEMRA noted that the speech would only be permitted to air after an effective delay mechanism to ensure effective monitoring and editorial control.

Earlier on Monday, Imran Khan was granted a pre-arrest bail by the Islamabad High Court and has been booked for offenses under the Anti-Terror Act. The FIR against Khan reads that in his speech, he had “terrorized and threatened top police officials and a respected female additional sessions judge”. It is also directed to him to reach a relevant Anti-terrorism Court by then.
