Pro-Hijab Women Protestors Violate Orders in UP

Uttar Pradesh: A video police lathi charging a mob of Muslim women has been making rounds on social media. The purported incident is reported to have occurred in Ghaziabad of UP on Sunday. According to Abhinay Kumar Mishra, Indrapuram CO claimed that a group of 20-25 women wearing Hijab were protesting on streets in the Navneet area of Khoda Colony in Ghaziabad. He said that the scuffle took place despite the police asking the ladies to stop the protest. It is reported that they didn’t have a permit to hold protests and so the police came up to disperse them.
Later, on Sunday evening a case was also registered against them for violation of prohibitory orders and rioting against the protestors. The district remains under Section 144 in view of UP assembly polls. The restrictions ban gathering more than four people at a place. Police officials said they are checking the identity of the women and checking the CCTV footage of the area.
