Rahul Gandhi Mails 4 Page Response to Delhi Police Notice

NEW DELHI: Former Congress party president Rahul Gandhi through a mail sent a 10 point preliminary response to the notice issued by the Delhi Police hours after the former paid a visit to his Delhi residence on Sunday.

Calling the Delhi Police action ‘unprecedented’ Gandhi questioned whether the police action had anything to do with the position taken by the Congress leader inside and outside Parliament and on the Adani issue, as per sources quoted by news rooms.

“Cheap theatrics” by the police proved “how rattled Mr Modi is with our questions on Adani”; “this harassment deepens our conviction to seek answers,” the party said in a statement. The senior leader also sought 8-10 days to give a detailed response on his “sexual harrasment remarks”.

The police team headed by Special Commissioner of Police (Law and Order) Sagar Preet Hooda arrived at Rahul Gandhi’s 12, Tughlaq Lane, residence around 10 am and was able to meet the Congress leader after two hours, officials said, adding the team left around 1 pm.

Gandhi according to sources also asked what was the urgency on the part of the Delhi Police in making two visits in as many days after an initial gap of 45 days after he made his speech in Srinagar.

The visit by the Delhi police stemmed to Gandhi’ statement in Srinagar on Jan 30 during Bharat Jodo Yatra, where he said- “women are still being sexually assaulted”.
