Remains Of Martyred Colonel Viplav, Wife, Son Reached Chhattisgarh Today

Raigarh: The mortal remains of Colonel Viplav Tripathi, his wife and son, who were killed in a militant attack in Manipur, has reached Raigarh on Monday as a special plane of the Indian Air Force carrying mortal remains landed at an airstrip in Raigarh at 12:42 pm. The city is completely closed in honour of the martyrdom of the Commandant. A large number of people including public representatives, officers reached to pay tribute. Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel and other public representatives and officials paid tribute to the martyred colonel at Raipur airport. MP Gomti Sai, MLA Prakash Nayak, MLA Lailunga Chakradhar Sidar, District Panchayat President Nirakar Patel, Collector Bhim Singh, Superintendent of Police Abhishek Meena paid tribute to the martyr at the airport.

On November 13, Colonel Tripathi, the Commanding Officer of Khuga Battalion of Assam Rifles, his wife Anuja (36) and son Abir (5), besides 4 personnel of the paramilitary force, were killed in an ambush by militants in the north-eastern state on Saturday. 7 people were killed in the ambush in Manipur’s Churachandpur district on Saturday and 6 bodies had been brought to the north-eastern state’s capital Imphal, from where they were being taken to Guwahati by flight.

The last journey of the martyr has been taken out after reaching Raigarh; the body was kept at his residence in Kirori Mal Colony till 1.30 pm. Following which his body was kept for the last darshan at Ramleela Maidan at 2:15 pm. During which, the soldiers of the army gave him a guard of honour. His last journey will start from Ramlila Maidan at 3.15 pm following the route of old Hatri Ganja Chowk via Saktiguri Chowk, Station Chowk, Gandhi Chowk, Subhash Chowk and finally his last rites will be performed at Muktidham located at Circuit House at 4 pm via Chandni Chowk.
