Rupee Up by 34 Paise Agaisnt the US Dollar

MUMBAI: The Indian rupee opened higher at 81.64 per dollar on Wednesday versus yesterday’s close of 81.72 and traded to close at 81.39.

At the interbank forex exchange, the domestic unit recorded a rise of 34 paise against the greenback currency after opening at 81.63 and touching an intraday high of 81.38 and a low of 81.64. At the market on the previous day, the domestic unit collapsed by 4 paise.

The Indian Rupee according to experts registered the first monthly gains in the past eleven months following a rebound in the risk assets, lower crude oil prices and foreign funds inflows.

Meanwhile, the Dollar index slipped 0.29 per cent to 106.51. Global oil Benchmark Brent crude features advanced 2.13 per cent to USD 84.80 per barrel.
