Malala Yousafzai has tied the knot! During a closed ceremony in Birmingham, the 24-year-old human rights campaigner and Nobel Peace Prize winner married her lover, Asser Malik. In a small ceremony in the United Kingdom, the Nobel Laureate and Pakistani champion for girls’ education, married a top-ranking officer of the Pakistan Cricket Board. She uploaded a few photos from the day on social media, stating that it “marks a treasured day” in her life.

The caption read, “Asser and I tied the knot to be partners for life. We celebrated a small nikkah ceremony at home in Birmingham with our families. Please send us your prayers. We are excited to walk together for the journey ahead.”

Visuals from the wedding were published on Twitter, including one of the bride looking pleasant and stunning. She wore a traditional suit with a kurta, slacks, and a dupatta that she wore over her head in a beige-tinted hue of pink. Adding glamour with a pair of earrings and a prominent maang-teeka as her only accessories. She was glowing with her natural makeup. Her spouse chose to wear a tuxedo with a tie that matched the bride’s dress, which was a nice touch.

Yousafzai rose to international prominence as a result of her campaigning against the Taliban’s efforts to prevent Pakistani girls from attending school.
