“The virus outbreak was first alerted by our officials & not china”, says WHO

Geneva: On Saturday, the World Health Organization (WHO) updated its official Covid-19 timeline of the early stage of the pandemic since its onset in December. WHO said that the virus outbreak was first alerted by their own office in China and not by Chinese local bodies. The first case of then pneumonia(now COVID19) emerged in Wuhan.

US President Donald Trump had accused the UN health body of failing to provide the information needed to steam the pandemic and of being complacent towards Beijing, charges it denies.

On April 9, WHO published an initial timeline of it’s communications, which is response to criticism of it’s early response to the outbreak that has now claimed more than 5,21,000 Lives worldwide.

On April 20 the Press Conference was held in which the director of WHO Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus said that the first report that came from China without specifying whether the report has been sent by Chinese authorities or another source.

On December 31 it  indicated that the WHO office in China has notified its regional point of contact of a case of viral pandemic after the Wuhan health commission website on the issue which has been found a declaration for the media.

The other news report transmitted WHO’s epidemic information service by the international epidemiological surveillance network ProMed based in the US about the cases of Wuhan about the same group of the cases of pandemic. 

 From Chinese authorities WHO ask on two occasions on January 1 and January 2 about the cases information which they had provided on January 3.

On Friday the Press Conference was held in which WHO emergency director Michael Ryan Told that the country has 24-48 hours to officially verify an event and provide the agency with additional information about the nature or cause of an event. After knowing the Chinese authorities are immediately contacted WH chose as soon as the agency asked to verify the report later he added.

 The main financial contributors to WHO is US says US President Donald Trump will cut its bridges with the institution which hi excuse of being Too Close To China of having poorly managed the pandemic.
