Treason by BJP: Strikes Mr Gandhi on Pegasus Report

New Delhi: Saturday morning brought fresh row of accusations on the BJP led Govt after a report by a US newspaper said India bought Israeli spyware in a $2 billion deal in 2017.According to the investigation, the Israeli spyware Pegasus and a missile system were the “centrepieces” of a roughly $2-billion deal of sophisticated weapons and intelligence gear between India and Israel in 2017.

Former Congress President, Rahul Gandhi stalking on the snooping strobed an attack on BJP. Taking to twitter, he wrote, “Modi government bought Pegasus to spy on our primary democratic institutions, politicians and public. Government functionaries, opposition leaders, armed forces, judiciary all were targeted by phone tapping. This is treason. Modi government has committed treason.”

Several politicians struck the chance and accused the centre on the alledged deal.The spyware has been a motif of controversy over its alledged use for collecting declassified information on journalists, politicians, and others employeed in administrative services of the govt. In response the Defence Ministry, said in parliament that it has not made any transaction with the Israeli firm NSO. A technical committee appointed by the Supreme Court earlier this month sought information from people who suspect their phones were targeted
