Union minister Launches ‘Meri Policy, Mere Haath’ Scheme

Indore: Madhya Pradesh currently ranks number 1. in organic farming, said Minister of Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare Narendra Singh Tomar on Saturday while launching the ‘Meri Policy, Mere Haath’ – a doorstep crop insurance policies distribution drive uander Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana (PMFBY) in Budhi Barlai Village of Sanwer tehsil in Indore district.

The event organized at Malwa Sahakar Shakkar Karkhana Maryadit in Budhi Barlai recorded nearly 5,000 people. During the event a section of farmers were also handed over the policy documents.

Chief minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan, agriculture minister Kamal Patel, water resource minister Tulsiram Silawat and the tourism minister Usha Thakur, and minister of state for horticulture and food processing (Independent Charge) Bharat Singh Kushwah also took part in the public event.

In his addresal CM Chauhan informed that the centre had recently issued a whopping sum of Rs 7,618 crores. Out of which Rs 380.54 crore were disbursed to farmers in Indore.The initiative aims to spread awareness among farmers about their policies, land records, the process of claim and grievance redressal under PMFBY.

Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana, was launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on 18th February 2016 at Sehore, Madhya Pradesh. Six years since the launch and officials claim benefits of Rs 1.15 crores were distributed among 36.5 crore farmers.
