The officials of Delhi’s Power Ministry, BSES Rajdhani Power Ltd., and Tata Power arrived at the residence of Union Power Minister RK Singh on Sunday for a discussion over coal shortages at power plants, amid the risk of a power blackout in the national capital.

If power plants supplying energy to the national capital do not receive enough supply of coal, Delhi Power Minister Satyendar Jain warned that the national capital could face a complete blackout in two days. In order to alleviate the current power crisis in Delhi, Jain stated that the government is willing to price electricity.

The massive coal shortage affecting power plants will be addressed in the coming days, according to the Centre, as several states, including Delhi, expressed concern about approaching blackouts. According to the Centre, the scarcity is attributable to a rise in worldwide coal prices. Jain has said that the government is willing to buy expensive electricity at present to resolve the power crises in Delhi. The meeting is expected to give a solution to the same.
