USA: Texas, US reported its first death due to Omicron on Monday. The Health Bulletin informed that an unvaccinated man died on Monday due to Omicron variant. The victim aged 50-60 years presented severe symptoms as he was unvaccinated, County Judge Lina Hidalgo announced on Monday.
With the Omicron and Delta variant spreading swiftly across the nation, health experts have been urging Americans to get vaccinated or boosted to protect themselves and others before they face greater chances of infection. On Sunday, at least 45 US states including Puerto Rico and Washington DC documented cases.
With more than 73% of new coronavirus cases in the US last week, Omicron has been gaining dominance over Delta Centre for Disease Control, US stated. Reports also surfaced that Mr Biden had close contact with the White House member who tested positive for COVID-19 on Monday. However, the Prez received a negative RT-PCR test on Monday and will be subjected to another one Wednesday, the White House informed. “As CDC guidance does not require fully vaccinated people to quarantine after an exposure, the President will continue with his daily schedule,” the statement reads.
