Uttar Pradesh: The Second Phase of Panchayat Elections Begin; Strict COVID Norms Levied

Uttar-pradesh: With its second phase Panchayat elections underway, a huge crowd has gathered near the polling booths. People have been queuing up since morning to cast their votes.  Meanwhile, the administration has set up 1776 booths in 641 polling stations from 8 development blocks of Lucknow. A total of 7104 personnel with 4 members are present at the booths from each party.

25 Zilla panchayat members, 493-gram Pradhan’s, 619 area panchayat members, and 3225-gram panchayat members will be elected via this polling session. 105 Sector Magistrates, 105 Sector Police Officers, 26 Zonal Magistrates, and 26 Zonal Police Officers have been deployed.  Additionally, 8 Administrative Magistrates, 8 Circle Officers, and 8 Super Zonal Magistrates Super Zonal Police Officers have also been posted. 

Polling is underway in Amroha, Azamgarh, Etawah, Eta, Kannauj, Gonda, Gautam Budh Nagar, Chitrakoot, Pratapgarh, Badaun, Baghpat, Bijnor, Muzaffarnagar, Mainpuri, Maharajganj, Lucknow, Lakhimpur, Lalitpur, Varanasi, and Sultanpur are the poll-bound regions of the state. The voting is scheduled until 6 pm in the evening from 7 am under all COVID norms.
