Former Captain Kohli and current Wicketkeeper Pant would not be available for the upcoming T20I against Sri Lanka in Kolkata. The BCCI has to give the players a break from the teams bio bubble. The duo in the second T20Is on Friday, bouyed India by half centuries after Men in Blue were asked to bat first. Kohli scored 52 off 41 balls while Pant blasted an unbeaten 52 off 28 balls. Pant and Venkatesh Iyer’s partnership proved to be crucial for India as the duo added 76 runs off just 35 balls to help India reach an imposing score.
Virat Kohli who was a part of the India’s BioBubble since its match in England would prepare for the 100th Test match of his career slated to be played in Mohali in the first week of March. The former captain on a 10-day break flew home a day before the third T20 international against the West Indies scheduled in Kolkata on Sunday.”Yes, Kohli has left for home on Saturday morning as India have already won the series. As it has been decided by BCCI, it will be a policy to give all the regular all-format players periodic breaks from the bubble to ensure that their workload management and mental health is taken care of,” a senior BCCI official privy said on terms of anonymity.
