Weather Updates: Unseasonal Rains Lash Several States

NEW DELHI: Several parts of Delhi-NCR woke up to light rain early Saturday morning, bringing respite from the humid weather.

“Thunderstorms with light to moderate intensity rain would occur over and adjoining areas of Kaithal, Narwana (Haryana). Light to moderate intensity rain would occur over and adjoining areas of isolated places of Delhi (Alipur, Burari, Karawal Nagar), Civil Lines, Seelampur, Vivek Vihar, IGI Airport, NCR (Loni Dehat, Hindon AF Station, Gurugram, Manesar) Deoband, Najibabad, Shamli, Bijnaur, Chandpur, Bagpat, Meerut, Khekra, Modinagar (U.P.) during next 2 hours,” tweeted Regional Met Centre New Delhi.

According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD) forecast, very light rainfall is expected on Sunday (March 19).

The weather office has predicted light-to-moderate rainfall, along with thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds in many Indian states between 16th and 20th March. The states include Delhi, Jammu & Kashmir, Ladakh, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Gujarat, Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, and Karnataka.

A drop in temperature by 2-4 degrees Celsius over North-West India, East India, and Central and West India in the subsequent three days is also forecast.

Unseasonal rains lashed Mumbai, Nashik, Dhule and Nandurbar. The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) issued a warning stating that multiple cities and districts in Maharashtra may experience a thunderstorm along with light rains till March 20. While Maharashtra has been receiving light to moderate rainfall on and off in the last few days, the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) said that the quantity of rainfall in the state was below the measurable limit.
