Chennai: Tamil Nadu is within the grips of heavy rainfall and the capital Chennai has been the worst hit with most of the cities submerged and in the middle of this turmoil. Visuals of a female cop are circulating in the social media who is seen rescuing an individual lying unconscious at a cemetery in the TP Chatram neighbourhood of Chennai.
Rajeshwari, a police inspector, is seen carrying the man on her shoulders and driving him to a neighbouring hospital in an auto. The video has earned widespread applause for the police officer’s altruistic conduct.
According to reports, the man was found wet to the skin at a cemetery in the Kilpauk district by the overnight rains. He was recognised as Udhaya, a cemetery worker who had become unwell and had lost consciousness. Since the beginning of the monsoon, the inspector has apparently been actively involved in rescue and relief missions, feeding the homeless every day with her crew.
On Thursday, many highways in Chennai were flooded. Commuters were diverted throughout the city when the traffic police shuttered at least seven roadways and 11 subways. Some suburban trains were halted, while others were delayed, due to waterlogging on rail tracks. Flight operations were regular, according to the Airport Authority of India, and additional measures were made at airports owing to the bad weather.
