Women’s T20 World Cup: Richa Ghosh, Jemimah Rodrigues Guide India to 7 Wicket Win Over Pakistan
Indian women maintained their dominance against Pakistan women’s cricket team (149/4) in ICC Women’s T20 World Cup as they beat them by seven wickets in a thrilling encounter on Sunday. Deepti Sharma got India the first break when Javeria Khan (8) went for a sweep only to hand a top edge to Harmanpreet Kaur.
With Smriti Mandhana out injured and Harmanpreet Kaur getting out at a crucial stage, it was left to youngsters Jemimah Rodrigues and Richa Ghosh to take India past Pakistan’s 149/4 with an over to spare at Cape Town on Sunday.
The target seemed to be getting distant when India needed 41 off the last four overs, but a heroic FIFTY partnership off 31 balls between Jemimah Rodrigues and Richa Ghosh powered team India to a meorable 7-wicket win. Jemimah played an unbeaten knock of 53 in the Women’s T20 World Cup 2023 opener clash.
Earlier, Bismah Maroof’s unbeaten 68 and a blazing 43 not out from Ayesha Naseem helped Pakistan post a challenging 149 for four. Radha Yadav was the most successful India bowler returning with figures of 2 for 21 in her four overs.
