Iran: The 10th Summit on Economic Cooperation of eight developing countries began virtually with the presence of Iranian President Hassan Rouhani and the heads of member states. The Summit hosted by Iran was attended by Heads of States/Governments of all eight D-8 Member States.
The D-8 Organization for Economic Cooperation, also known as Developing-8, is an organization established in 1997. It was curated for facilitating development and cooperation among the following countries: Bangladesh, Egypt, Indonesia, Iran, Malaysia, Nigeria, Pakistan, and Turkey.
The D-8 Secretariat is located in Istanbul. It aims to improve the global economy of its members by diversifying and creating new opportunities in trade relations, enhance participation in decision-making at an international level, and improve standards of living. Areas that the organization covers include the Transportation industry, Trade, Agriculture and Food Security, Energy, and Tourism.
President Hassan will illustrate Iran’s perspective and stances to further strengthen relations and cooperation amongst the members of the organization.
