WPL 2023: Delhi Capitals Beat Royal Challengers Bangalore by Six Wickets
DC defeated RCB by 6 wickets in the 11th match of the 2023 Women’s Premier League (WPL) at the DY Patil Sports Academy, Navi Mumbai. The DC were off to a terrible start as Shafali Verma was out for a golden duck in the very first over. Alice Capsey then counterattacked to leave a quick recovery before falling on 38.
Royal Challengers Bangalore racked up 150/4 against Delhi Capital. Star all-rounder Ellyse Perry set the tone for RCBW’s innings after they were reeling at 63/3 in 12.4 overs. It was her second consecutive fifty of the tournament. Meanwhile, Richa Ghosh chipped in with a quickfire knock as Royal Challengers Bangalore recovered from three early wickets to post a challenging total of 150/4. Perry remained unbeaten on 67 off 52 balls, while Richa was dismissed on 37 by Shikha Pandey, who was the pick of the bowlers with figures of 3/23.
Delhi Capitals captain Meg Lanning won the toss and opted to bowl against RCB. Both the teams have earlier met each other where the Meg Lanning-led side registered a 60-run victory.
Royal Challengers Bangalore have endured a nightmare of a start to life in the inaugural Women’s Premier League. They have struggled to put together a complete performance despite several tweaks across departments. DC have been one of the two top performers. They only lost in four attempts came against the high-flying Mumbai Indians who rightly are at the top of the WPL points table. Stung by their defeat to MI, DC blazed away to a 10-wicket win over Gujarat Giants.
